An early 19th century French gilt and patinated ormolu mantel clock, Chapuy, Rue Vivienne No.4, the female allegorical figure of study seated at a table housing the 3.25 inch Roman and Arabic enamel dial, raised on a verdi antico marble base and toupie feet, the two train drum movement with silk suspension and outside countwheel strike on a bell, height 13in.

The case is dirty and gilding is worn to the top of the table otherwise good, there is some very minor chips to the marble base, the toupie feet require some adjustment but otherwise good, the dial has some light surface scratches and radial scratches, the dial sits loosely in its bezel and slips so that the winding squares appear higher than they actually are but this is the original dial for the clock and movement, but otherwise good. The movement is dirty but currently functions, the pendulum suspension block appears to be a replacement, it will require a clean or an overhaul.
