An early 19th century French Palais Royale musical necessaire, modelled as a piano forte, the fitted interior with assorted sewing accessories, 12in.

Overall box of a good rich mahogany colour, top lid showing a very slight bowing with discolouration stains to the mock keys, also lid does not close properly as it is warped towards the front edge near the lock, internal mirror looks original with some oxidising, green velvet lining also looks to be original, white silk mat with green edging that lies across the top is now very tatty and discoloured, musical mechanism is loose, upon winding ran briefly then stopped, glass panel that covers it with some scuffing to the paper work around the edge, silver thread work to the lidded compartment and to the pin cushion now a little tired and oxidised with some omissions, the glass scent bottle looks to be the original though has lost its cap, all other fittings are associated and comprise a telescopic pencil, a gilt thimble and a pair of silver handled scissors, none of these appropriately fit the recessess. The white paper lining between the main tray faded and discoloured with age, comes with a key for the musical mechanism and a key for the box, one of the ebonised legs is loose
