An early 17th century Flemish verdure tapestry, woven with figures by a river beneath a cartouche , inscribed 'Cum Sophia iam. Foedvs. init. donisque. beatus' supported by amorini to the top cartouche and initialled BB/FVH to the bottom, 11ft 3in. x 6ft

Composition appears to be a wool thread with a hessian backing.
It is in fairly poor condition. There are numerous tears ranging from small to quite large, the smaller ones mainly towards the base. Therer are numerous patches/repairs and fraying across the subject in general. Colours still quite vibrant considering age.
