An attractive Victorian amethyst and diamond brooch, second half 19th century, claw-set with a cushion-shaped amethyst weighing approximately 8.00 carats, within an interwoven border of cushion-shaped diamonds totalling approximately 2.20 carats, mounted in silver and gold, one diamond deficient.

Condition:
Very attractive and well-made, brooch fitting with ring possibly later attached with minor patches of solder, one of which has broken. Minor discoloration to metal in some areas. Diamonds bright and lively, beautiful old mine cuts, one deficient, not obvious. Amethyst a lovely colour, good clarity, nicely proportioned cut and in good condition, measuring approximately 13 x 16 x 7.5mm. Gross weight 13 grams.
