Lot 1225 , An attractive 1920s Cartier, platinum, diamond and black onyx drop pendant, pendant 2.75in excl. bale
An attractive 1920's Cartier, platinum, diamond and black onyx drop pendant, of articulated elongated hexagonal design, with three central old cut diamonds in a pierced millegrain setting, containing old and rose cut diamonds, with onyx border and pear shaped onyx drop, signed "Cartier Londres", suspended from an unmarked white gold and eight cut diamond set bow brooch, pendant 2.75in excl. bale
Estimate £8,000-12,000
Approximately estimated total diamond weight in the pendant is in excess of 3.50ct.
The central largest diamond has a small chip by the collet setting along with a surface reaching crack. One of the smaller old mine cuts has a small chip and another has a small crack. Two of the small rose cuts within the border, each have a tiny chip. There is a minute chip to bottom side of the onyx drop. There also appears to be a tiny piece of resin/glue? between the top of the onyx drop and the setting. No obvious damage to any of the other stones. Setting showing slight signs of wear, conducive with age and use and the " Cartier Londres" is a little tired also. Overall condition is otherwise good.
The associated bow has a tiny chip to one of the rose cuts, otherwise in generally good order.
