An amber vesta case, early 20th century, of rectangular form with rounded corners in polished amber, intended for matches, the hinged lid opened via a cabochon emerald push piece, the base with a vesta strip, measuring 5.5 x 1.7 x 4cm, gross weight approximately 28 grams

Condition:
Top with repairs around mount where it has chipped around edges and previously detached - a small section towards the hinge replaced with resin/glue - no cracks through the main part of lid and stable at time of writing. Scratches to amber, discoloration to metal. Metal of mount is likely 9-14ct gold but not marked and cannot be guaranteed, vesta strip likely base metal. Amber attractive with natural mottling. Emerald push piece slightly bend downwards but in good condition and working well. Likely to be rolled gold.
