An RAF archive including a WWII DFC medal group awarded to Wing Commander Richard Douglas Speare, comprising; the Distinguished Flying Medal, Air Crew Europe Star, DSO dated 1944, 1939 to 1945 Star, 1939 to 1945 Medal, and Croix de Guerre with bronze palm clasp (6 medals) together with related memorabilia including; a silver dish raised on three feet, with maker’s mark for the Goldsmith and Silversmith company, hallmarked for London 1938, two enamelled RAF powder compacts, one in silver, the other in gilt metal,
a number of photographs of R.D. Speare in uniform and in front of bombers, a variety of documents including his ministry certificate of competency and licensed to fly private flying machines, the last date included being 18 January 1939, some correspondence, later family research relating to the actions with which Speare was involved,etc.
