An L. Lowendall violin, stamped with the date 1881 Dresden, the body 14in., with another violin bearing No. 9 and remnant of JTD labels, body 13.5in.

Has a loose support post inside, split to each of the S scrolls, a loss to the edge upper right of the top, scratching to the back, the number XXIII is inscribed towards the bottom at the top, the back of the head is stamped Lowendall's Celebrated Conservatory Violin Amati, lacking strings. The JTL violin has a split to the top near the base, a repair to the right hand corner, looks like it is coloured in restoration, with the odd scuff and scratch, otherwise in reasonable condition, requires re-stringing.
