An Italian Arts and Crafts figurative silk polychrome decorative long stitch embroidery cartouche. The translation; “Paolo and Francesca in the garden… that day we read no further in it”. The words embroidered in blue around the central motif, edged in gold thread, the embroidery also high lighted in places with gold thread onto a linen backing, framed and glazed, embroidery 59.5cm square. Condition; there is some dust inside the glass, it may benefit being taken out and cleaned gently as a preservation precaution.
