An Indo-Dutch satinwood and brass mounted cabinet, Batavia 1650-1680, the exterior with scrolling brass strapwork lockplate and hinges, flanked by a pair of side carrying handles, the interior fitted with an arrangement of ten burr wood drawers with ebony mouldings, Width 2ft 4in, depth 1ft 7in, height 2ft.

The satinwood is likely to have been imported from Dutch Ceylon which was under the control of the Dutch East India Company at the time.

Of good rich colour but with a dull state of polish. Lock missing from the right door. A number of mouldings and bandings missing from around the internal drawers. Old worm holes throughout the main carcase but not internally.
