An American Pearlware sailor Toby jug with hat, 'Success to our Wooden Walls, c.1820, on a naturalistic base with similar handle, 27cm high

The blue enamels of his coat have been completely repainted as has the brow of his hat which has possibly some restoration beneath, the separate hat has been broken and re-glued and again the black enamel has probably been repainted, there is fine crazing to the glaze all over with some occasional small areas of staining, there is some heavy scratching just above his right knee, some flaking to the enamels on the naturalistic base and handle, otherwise in reasonable condition.
