After William Heysman Overend (American, 1851-1898)
pair of photogravures,
A Football Match Association Game and A Football Match (Rugby) England v Scotland, 1889,
overall 28 x 38in.
Estimate £300-500
Both prints are in their original frames and suffer from similar signs of ageing.
Associate Game - paper suffers from heavy undulation and damp discolouration which runs through most of the work and only starts to fade away near the extreme edges of the sheet, also with some light foxing scattered around the edges, perhaps a tiny 3mm tear at the extreme left at 9 o'clock but no other physical damage note.
The other print similarly undulating with paper discolouration and foxing, has slipped in the frame but still retains full margins, clearly both prints require some restoration and stabilising, however both are good honest original examples. Under glass in the original oak frames with gilt slips, no labels verso.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid. All transactions are governed by Gorringes Conditions of Sale.
