Note: The original of this portrait, which hangs in the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, was painted circa 1820

Possibly some slight rubbing to the paint to the left of his brown coat with a few white speckles showing around the extremities but otherwise in fair to good condition, bears signature at 3 o'clock, under bevelled glass in a stepped bronze frame which matches lots 1230 and 1233. Fine inscription on the back panel which appears to be in French but bears a date of 1830.
