Old reline to the canvas which remains tight, a fairly pronounced craquelure running through the skin tones, finer elsewhere, some blooming showing in the varnish of the drapery running down the right side and there may well be some retouching to both sides of this work, attribution to Kneller on the old giltwood frame which shows fair wear and tear, old auctioneers catalogue extract verso listed at lot 331 Sloene-Stanley Collection along with a Maples Depository label for Colonel Sloane-Stanley.
