Oil on canvas cleaned relined and restored within the past 20 years or so, canvas remains tight, paint has a slightly yellowish tint to it which is almost certainly slight discolouration to the varnish, there is evidence of a fine but stable craquelure running through much of the paint, looks like there was once a vertical tear running from just above the head of the figure in the red robe for approx 6 inches, this shows as a different paint colour on the work or possibly where varnish has not been applied, equally there are signs of retouching across the top of the painting and running down the sides, however other than the noted horizontal flaw the main body of the painting appears to be original, not framed.
