A seven pedal harp by Sebastian Erard, 18 Great Marlborough St. London, Patent N4164, cedar soundboard, fluted pillar with gilt Classical style capital, 170.5cm high
£600-800

Condition:
Six of the lowest strings look old, others replaced; soundbox re-painted black; shoulder/knee block has been re-attached at some stage but reciprocal signs at the fluted column are not so obvious; top of column with inserted wood section; one of the angel finials at column one wing re-built; soundboard badly-split across base. Provenance: private vendor explains this was bought at auction in southern Ireland around fifteen years ago. On arrival in England, it was sent to Alan Harbour of Richmond, London, a well-known harp restorer who made relative light of the horizontal cracks to the soundboard and added that, had they been diagonal, this would have an impact on it’s tone. Bought as a decoration and not used over the last fifteen years.
