Provenance - with original certificates of sale from A. David Dollin & Malcolm R. Sadler, 24th March 1964 and 21st March 1963 and a previous insurance valuation undertaken by Thwaites, 33 Chalk Hill, Oxhey Herts., 30th March 2001.
The top board has splits leading upward from the right-hand f-hole and the right C-bout with some re-colouring/filler around the area. There is a short hairline to the top of the right f-hole which finishes just short of the sound post. There is a hairline crack extending down from the base of the same f-hole to the lower edge. There are a few other short splits to the top board around the edges. The points of the right hand C-bout are worn.
The sides have some filler repair to the left-hand C-bout and two splits to the right side. There is a replacement patch of timber around the end button.
The back board is a single piece but has a scribed line down the centre - this is not damage. The back board has some replacement purfling at the top end and at the bottom end with some purfling missing at the bottom end. The neck has been replaced and the scroll has circular disc inserts to the box to accommodate smaller pegs.
