A rare early 20th century sterling silver gilt novelty compact, decorated with an owl on a perch, with glass eyes, two hinged interior compartments with mirror and two cabochon buttons, 11.8cm.

There is visible loss to the gilding around the edges and on the raised parts of the features on the front and rear of the case. There are numerous tiny nicks and scratches to the sides of the case. The cabochon button at the base on the case has been pushed inwards and damaged the setting. There is slight wear tothe setting on two of the other buttons. The mirror plate on the interior isn't in great condition, black marks to the edges and numerous black pit spots.
