Estimate £4,000-5,000

Cf. A & A Cox, Rockingham 1745-1842, figure 204 for an example of a 'triple dress plate' made for the William IV Royal service, c.1832-7.

Typical of Rockingham porcelain there is fine crazing to the glaze all over and typical small losses to the applied flowers and leaves on the edge of the three tiers. The second tier has been broken in half and rivet repaired to the underside and two rivets have been removed from the top surface exposing a pair of small holes on each side at the edge of the border with some grey residue around the immediate area. The third tier has similarly been broken in half and glued with evidence of old rivet repairs to the underside. All the rivets have been removed with a shallow splinter loss around the immediate area to one. The top of the third tier once had two rivet repairs on each side at the edge of the border which have been removed exposing a pair of small holes with some grey residue around the immediate area. There are also two additional cracks to the border - one with a rivet repair still in place. The base also has a crack to one side which travels through the left edge of the view of Derwent Water, the underside with a single rivet repair and evidence of another which has been removed. The steel fixing bolt and screw on the underside appear to be rusted into position, otherwise the gilding and coloured enamels look bright.
