A rare George III gem-set acrostic mourning brooch, circa 1814, centring on a stylised pineapple between leaves above a foliate banner, in engraved bicoloured gold, set with seed pearls and turquoise, the banner set with a sequence of pearl, emerald, amethyst, citrine and emerald, spelling the word 'PEACE', the reverse engraved 'WATTERS 1 July 1814', length 2.9cm, two seed pearls deficient, pearls untested

Very attractive brooch, beautifully made and in good state of preservation. Two seed pearls deficient - pearls are strung on rather than threaded on wire. Brooch fittings appear original. Discoloration to gold in places, particularly on reverse.
