A rare Chinese famille rose moulded snuff bottle, probably Jiaqing period, painted with goats beneath the sun to one side and a sage with a horse to the other, height 6.5cm, hairline cracks

From the collection of a Hong Kong Tea Merchant who worked for Jardine Matheson & Co Ltd, before 1940.

There is some wear to the gilding around the mouth of the bottle. There are hairline cracks extending from the rim across the trees above the scholar and a few other hairlines in the glaze amongst the branches of the tree and then on the opposing side with the rams there are some hairline cracks in the glaze running vertically, with a jadeite and brass mounted stopper.
