Lot 342 , A pair of unusual Chinese Canton-decorated vases, 19th century, 44cm, bases repaired
A pair of unusual Chinese Canton-decorated vases, 19th century, each typically painted with figures in pavilions on a ground of flowers, objects and butterflies, the necks unusually applied with a pair of woodpecker shaped handles, 44cm, bases repaired
Estimate £200-300
First vase - foot has been broken off fairly cleanly around the base and re-attached using rivets, the rivets must be fairly long as they continue through from underneath the base through to the lower part of the vase with some plaster filler repair on the inside disguising this, there is also a large crack in the base extending up part of the way into the vase.
Second vase - again has been fairly cleanly broken around the base with some occasional splintering to the glaze around the area and has a rivet repair which goes into the interior of the vase, this is now loose and the vase is a little bit wobbly.
Both vases have some occasional losses to the enamel and slight wear, there are enamel losses particularly to the handles.
