A pair of large Japanese Satsuma pottery vases, late 19th century, signed Kinkozan, each painted with ducks in a Winter landscape, ten character marks to side, 37.5cm

Both vases are in good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks, there is some slight wear to the gilding on the top rims and some minor staining to the pottery body, most noticeable with one where a label has been removed on the neck, other minor firing imperfections, otherwise good condition.

Provenance: The vendor's father was working out in the far east from the 1920's to the late 1930's and after the war in the 1950's and '60's was buying pieces from specialist dealers such John Sparkes Ltd. Although none of the pieces in the sale have a John Sparkes label to them some additional items which will be appearing in a future sale do bear the John Sparkes Ltd label.
