A pair of Maori carved wood photograph frames containing contemporary New Zealand photographs c.1900-10, carved in relief with rauponga lines and spirals, inset with contemporary albumen photos, depicting figures by Waikimihia (Hinemoa’s bath), Mokoia Island, Rotorua by Edith Preen (1877- ?, she also photographed Anaha Te Rahui, c.1907) and another albumen print entitled ‘Maori Haka, NZ’, frames 32.5 cm x 27 cm

Condition:
Provenance- Ken Paul who collected Asian and European antiques from the 1950s to 1980s for hire as props in movies and television, thence by family descent. Believed to have been acquired from the same source as the kumete bowl and cover.
