Lot 5 , A pair of George II silver tea caddies and matching sugar box with covers, by Samuel Taylor
A pair of George II silver tea caddies and matching sugar box with covers, by Samuel Taylor, of inverted pyriform, with wrythened and foliate embossed decoration and engraved with family crest, London, 1752 sugar box height 13.2cm, caddy height 12.5cm, all with floral finials and circular foot, 32.1oz.
£2,000-3,000
Condition:
Small hole to the lower body of one of the caddies. There appears to be a small split to the cover of one of the caddies but only really visible from the interior. Small knock to the foot rim on the sugar box, causing a slight wobble on a flat surface. Overall condition is otherwise good, commensurate with age and mild use. Hallmarks clear but with some rubbing, especially to the maker's marks.
