A pair of Chinese wucai 'dragon and phoenix' bowls, Qianlong mark and of the period (1736-95), each painted to the interior with a single dragon chasing a flaming pearl, the exterior with a green and an iron red dragon and two phoenix amid flowers and foliage, the border with the eight Buddhist emblems, all between underglaze blue double line circles, diameter 15.6cm, some damage

Compare a similar single wucai 'dragon and phoenix' bowl sold by Christie's New York, Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, 17th March 2017, Lot no. 1211.

The first bowl has a rim chip at the 1 o'clock position measuring 6mm x 3mm, otherwise minor scratching to the glaze, no restoration or cracks.
Second bowl has four rim chips, two large side cracks one extending from one of the rim chips and a further hairline crack at the 3 o'clock position extending down towards the foot. Please see photographs.
