Lot 342 , A pair of Chinese hongmu round corner armchairs, 19th century, W.55.5cm H.91cm

A pair of Chinese hongmu round corner armchairs, 19th century, W.55.5cm H.91cm

A pair of Chinese hongmu round corner armchairs, 19th century, the rectangular splats inset with burr wood panels, above woven panelled seats and keywork friezes, W.55.5cm H.91cm
Estimate £600-800

First chair has a few holes and tiny losses to the woven seat, some occasional fine age cracks to the timber, slight loss and a little bit of filler to the moulding on the seat holding the woven panel in place, a small splinter loss to the right arm underneath where the central support slots in and the bottom side stretchers have pulled away slightly from the back legs and the front stretcher has pulled away slightly from the front right leg, again these can probably be easily rectified.
The second chair again has occasional minor age cracks to the wood, there is a break to the cresting rail at the left upright which has a gap in it but appears to be the original timber with some slight chipping around the area, again some slight shrinkage to the timber as one would expect, again the side stretchers have pulled away slightly from the back legs which again should easily be rectified, generally in reasonable condition.
