A pair of Chinese famille rose landscape bowls, Daoguang seal mark and of the period (1821-50), each painted with a view of a city amid mountains, with calligraphic inscription, diameter 10.5cm, one with rim cracks

One bowl has three cracks to the rim, the second bowl has a tiny glaze flake to the rim, both with wear to the gilding, otherwise in good condition with no restoration.


Provenance: The vendor's father was working out in the far east from the 1920's to the late 1930's and after the war in the 1950's and '60's was buying pieces from specialist dealers such John Sparkes Ltd. Although none of the pieces in the sale have a John Sparkes label to them some additional items which will be appearing in a future sale do bear the John Sparkes Ltd label.
