Lot 228 , A pair of Chinese export Batavia ware famille rose jars, 18th century, H. 21cm, wood covers and stands

A pair of Chinese export Batavia ware famille rose jars, 18th century, H. 21cm, wood covers and stands

A pair of Chinese export Batavia ware famille rose jars, 18th century, painted with flowers to quatrefoil shaped reserves, on cafe-au-lait ground, H. 21cm, wood covers and stands
Estimate £600-800

Both jars have some slight losses to the enamel, possibly in firing and some of the foliage and leaves appear to float in mid-air so wonder if there was once gilding joining the stems but now worn off, otherwise no restoration chips or cracks detected, one of the wood covers has a split across it, there is a very slight split to one stand and one of the stands is missing a single foot, otherwise the stands and covers are in reasonable condition.
