A massive 19th century Kangxi style Chinese wucai baluster jar and cover, painted with a continuous scene of figures in a landscape including an Emperor seated at a table and bannermen on horseback below a band of blurred dots, the neck with rockwork and flowers, the domed cover painted with two figures in a rockwork landscape, onion shaped finial, approx. height 50cm width 37cm, slight faults

There is a knock to the rim where a section may or may not have been restuck with accompanying small splintering around the area and hairline cracks coming off at slight angles, visible on the inside of the neck and the exterior of the neck down as far as the band of blurred dots in one place, there is some slight glaze losses to an iron red flower and green leaf on that area of the rim, there is also an additional hairline crack to the rim with a tiny flake to the area that has possibly been glued back in which extends down the length of the neck, otherwise no other visible damage to the jar itself, typical fritting to the interior and some slight wear / scratching to the enamels, the cover has a splinter chip to the rim with old restoration filling the area to the side facing up and the underside, otherwise minor flaking to the green enamel on the very edge, in generally reasonable condition for such a large jar of this age.
