A late Victorian sapphire and diamond brooch and cultured pearl necklace, circa 1900 and later, the brooch designed as a palmette, centring on an oval sapphire weighing approximately 3.00 carats, within a border of circular-cut diamonds totalling approximately 2.00 carats, mounted in silver and gold, with two interchangeable fittings including a brooch fitting and choker fitting, later strung with three strands of cultured pearls, necklace length 31cm
A verbal report from GCS states that the sapphire is of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin, with no indications of heat treatment

Condition:
Sapphire a pretty, mid blue of good saturation, measuring approximately 9.0 x 6.6 x 6.8mm, calculated to weigh approximately 3.00 carats, some crystal inclusions and minor feathers towards culet, overall a bright and engaging stone of very good colour and overall clarity. Diamonds bright and lively, mixed colour and clarity grades typical of the period, one with a pink tint, estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.80 carats. Clasp/brooch measuring approximately 2.7 x 2.3cm. Overall in good condition.
