A late Victorian oval satinwood and marquetry inlaid writing desk, by Maple & Co, the shaped top with projecting bow ends inset with gilt tooled green leather writing skiver, profusely inlaid all over with scrolling leaves, bell flowers, urns and other classical motifs, each bowed end with a central oval marquetry reserve depicting classical females, including Leda and the swan and Diana the Huntress, fitted with an arrangement of seven drawers around an arched kneehole, on stiff leaf carved and gadrooned tapering supports and castor feet, top right drawer stamped Maple & Co Ltd, W.4ft 3in.
