A late 19th century German upright symphonium, the walnut case of architectural form with drawer concealed in the base, operated by a penny coin slot and a winding handle, playing 12 inch discs on two vertically mounted combs operated by star wheels, together with an associated walnut cupboard and a number of discs, height 36in.

The case appears to be overall in good condition with some slight lifting of the veneer on the left hand side of the base, the two sets of combs are well polished and appear complete, the pivot for the swinging arms that secures the disc to the movement the pivot appears to be a modern replacement although the arm itselfs appears to be original, the movement functions and plays freely and coherently, the movement is a little dirty and would probably benefit from an overhaul, the associated base is in fair condition, with scratches and small losses to the veneer commensurate with age and use.
