Lot 852 , A late 18th century oak dresser and rack, W.167cm H.186cm
A late 18th century oak dresser and rack, W.167cm H.186cm
Estimate £300-400
Depth is 47cm. This dresser has seen some restoration over the years, most notably to the rack which has later back boards, and some repair work to the pediment. The whole piece has also been re-polished within the past 10-20 years. Top of the base is a little faded, but overall the piece has a rich colour. Handles are later replacements, but fit the original holes. pot board looks like a later addition, although fairly effectively fitted, thus making the feet look a little stubby. One would normally expect the pot board to be a little higher up. So, overall, a decorative piece rather than one for the purist, but still an attractive piece in good usable condition.
