A late 18th century Spanish polychrome oak group of the Madonna and child, with remnants of parcel gilt and painted decoration, standing with outstretched hand, upon a scrollwork base with single Reynolds angel, 46cm wide, 80cm high
Provenance- Brede Place, East Sussex, a former residence of the Frewen family from 1712-1936.

Condition:
Honest untouched condition, fading and rubbing throughout to the paint work, small losses to the central bosses at the top of the crown and further losses of the inset 'jewels' around the rim of the crown, outstretched arm has a clear repair to the joint, now being held in place with a pin, tips of fingers missing and the hand was almost certainly holding something at one point, long splits running down both sides of the flared veil, with some losses to the right tip, further small losses scattered throughout.
