A late 17th / early 18th century treen snuff box, carved as a book, 3.5in.

The box has a pleasing colour and patination, there is a vertical split to the 'spine' of the book box and there are a few other splits some of which have opened up with age, the clasp and strap hinges appear to be some sort of patinated metal probably brass, there is some wear and scratching etc consistent with age and use, the hinges are slightly sprung so that the hinged cover doesn't close exactly flat.
