A late 15th century Florentine red silk and gold brocade Lampas, a single repeat designed within a classical setting, being part of an Orphrey depicting the Resurrection, 43.5cm long x 22cm wide, with later frame. Please read reverse. Condition - it has been cut and re joined…but there is no fading. A few elements of the gold thread work have become loose and have tarnished, the red silk threads of the background have worn slightly in a few places, to be expected with a textile over 400 years old.
