A large early 20th century half-block ship builder's model of merchant naval steel hull, the back board with painted; ‘No.762’, the hull painted in red and cream, and extensively marked with measurements and guides in black ink over the paintwork marking the main deck, lower deck, upper side stringers, middle side stringers and lower side stringers, possibly the Atago Maru, 282cm wide, 37cm high, 18cm deep

Condition:
Apparently bought at Bonhams some ten years ago but it’s origins unknown. Pine backboard with a horizontal split ahead and behind the bow and stern; the finish has been wiped with a damp cloth but spotted finish dis not clean away; top of bow split as shown; rubs and edges chipped throughout. No identification details re maker of name or ship.
