A large brass and leather covered telescope by H.Hughes & Son, no.454/3404, marked H. Hughes & Son, 59 Fenchurch Street, London, with original fitted box and tripod stand, 5ft 3in.

The stand has a fair amount of deterioration and blemishes to the lacquered brass fittings and general wear and signs of use to the tripod base. The leather covered tapering tube has a few dents, one particularly noticeable a quarter of the way down, there are a number of losses and holes around one end, perhaps there may have been a band covering that originally, other wear, rusting and spotting to the brass lacquered surface, the objective lens does have two tiny chips to the underside edge of the glass, generally average condition.
