A large Victorian sofa, in the manner of Howard & Sons, probably Swietenia mahagoni with a Fagus sylvatica frame with faded velvet upholstery, on turned golden oak legs, fitted brass castors stamped Howard & Sons, 240cm wide, 92cm deep, 85cm high
£800-1,200
Condition:
This sofa was sold in these rooms as Howard & Sons approximately one year ago having come for sale from a deceased estate, it was subsequently discovered that the legs were not integral to the main frame of the sofa thus suggesting that it could not have been made by Howard. Upholstery is now rather faded, cushions are feather filled, legs slightly splaying with some chipping, castors stamped Howard & Sons.
