A large Japanese Satsuma bowl by Taizan, Meiji period, the interior painted with a central dragon medallion surrounded by three phoenixes, the exterior with a band of flowers, florets and brocade, black enamelled six character mark ‘Da Nihon Taizan so’, with impressed mark ‘Taizan’, 30.5cm diameter

Some small areas of wear to the gilding, some light occasional patches of staining to the fine crazing of the glaze, otherwise in good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks detected.
