A large George IV mahogany extending dining table, W.4ft 7in. Extended 12ft 1in. H.2ft 4in

A large George IV mahogany extending dining table, the rounded rectangular top with six leaves, on turned and fluted tapered legs, fitted brass castors, W.4ft 7in. Extended 12ft 1in. H.2ft 4in
Estimate £1,000-1,500

124cm long and 139cm wide.
Extends to 3680cm with 6 leaves.

Leaf sizes 64cm, 61cm, 29.5cm, 30.5cm, 30cm, 30cm. All original apart from the two 30cm leaves that were made by a restorer about 20 years ago (mahogany veneer on solid mahogany)

This table sits on just the four legs and uses a telescopic action to extend, the D end are somewhat more faded than the leaves with one end more notably faded than the other, of the two large leaves one is more faded than the other, the paler one having more notable surface scuffing and the richer colour one having some splitting notably an 18 inch crack running approx a third of the length of the leaf, the other leaves are smaller approx 12 inches each and near matching in colour, three are an equal match and one is a little richer so the top is going to need some attention to get it back to being all of one colour, legs are of an even colour and show typical nicks and denting commensurate with use, original brass castors are fitted, overall this table is in honest condition, needs some repolishing to the top, the D shaped ends do tip down slightly when the table is fully extended so this may require some slight reinforcement, legs are very slightly out of shape leaning a little inwards and again this would probably benefit from some attention but overall a good table.
