A good pair of George III silver ionic column candlesticks by John Cox engraved with the arms of Cust (Baronet), quartering Payne, with Drury in pretence, with plain tapering stems and ionic terminals with swags, on a plinth platform decorated with swags and ram's head angles, with four ribbon mounted oval plaques, one engraved with the armorial, on stepped square bases, London, 1772, 13.75in, weighted.

for Sir BROWNLOW CUST, (1744-1807), 4th baronet, MP, and his first wife, Jocosa (nee Drury) who died 16 months after their 1772 marriage.

Brownlow Cust was son of the 1743 marriage of Sir John Cust, Bt, PC, MP for Grantham, to Etheldred Payne. On Sir John's 1770 death Brownlow succeeded
to his father's baronetcy, and in 1776 was created 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton,
in recognition of his father's public service as Speaker of the House of Commons.
Sir Brownlow Cust remarried Frances Bankes in 1775
