A good late Victorian silver cased military related presentation timepiece by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd,

A good late Victorian silver cased Royal Lancers military related presentation timepiece by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd, of rectangular form, the front with "Royal Lancer" dial and bezel inscribed "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense", the border decorated with foliage and crossed standards, the stepped top surmounted with model of a Royal Lancer on horseback and back with engraved inscription, on ebonised plinth base with inscribed silver plaque, London, 1891, overall height 44cm.
Estimate £3,000-4,000

The plaque on the base has a fairly tired inscription which reads " Presented to Captain Gordon 19th? Royal Lancers by his brother officers on his marriage 1881". The clock ticks when wound. We cannot guarantee any of the clocks to be in working order. A small piece of the foliate decoration on the right on the plinth base is now missing. There is an inscription on the back of the case which is a little tired. The lance in the righnt hand of the officer is a little misshapen in places. The sword also looks a little mishapen half way down. Hallmarks are quite rubbed on the back of the case. The hour hand looks to have a banner attached as both hands are depicted as lances, but difficult to tell whether or not the banner is complete.
Gross weight is 4452 grams.
