A gentleman's rare 1965 stainless steel 'pre-moon landing' Omega Speedmaster manual wind wrist watch, gifted to Mr. Derek Gore during the 'Giantstep Presidential Goodwill Tour, 1969', with black dial, baton numerals and three subsidiary dials, movement numbered 22625669, movement c.321, on a Swiss made NSA steel bracelet, no box or papers. This watch was presented as a personal gift from Apollo astronauts to Derek Gore, who served as the British Consul at Las Brisas, Acapulco., the astronauts stayed at Las Brisas during their post-mission goodwill tour, and this watch was given directly to Derek in gratitude for his hospitality and help. The watch is accompanied by an extensive group of original material, including Derek Gore’s original British Consul business card, a press photograph print personally inscribed by Walter Cunningham to Derek Gore’s son encouraging him to study hard, and an image showing Derek Gore in conversation with astronauts at the event he hosted in Mexico, among them John Young, with NASA crew portraits prominently displayed in the background. The archive also includes original photographs taken from space, along with a number of other period images. It further features a photograph of Derek Gore welcoming then Prince Charles to Mexico, as well as a collection of photographs sent to him by Ronald Reagan, reflecting a friendship that developed between them.
