A fine pair of large Chinese painted pottery triangular tiles, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

A fine pair of large Chinese painted pottery triangular tiles, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), made from grey pottery and the decoration in relief features a pair of deer in a landscape, total length of the two tiles when placed together is 74cm, 38cm high
£1,000-1,500

Condition:
Overall condition is exceptional. The tile to the right has been broken and re-stuck at around the level of the deer's neck - the repair is not intended to be invisible, but is discreet and not at all obvious. A fine example of Chinese art that would look good within a collection of Chinese pottery or indeed adorning the wall of any modern apartment.
