A fine Meissen bird-painted part cabaret set, second half 19th century, each piece painted with chickens or ducks in landscapes within gilt foliate cartouches on a cobalt blue ground, underglaze blue crossed swords marks, the shaped tray incised 'No.8' and bearing old label Richard Fort ... Hall. (8)

The label probably refers to Richard Fort of Read Hall, Lancashire who was High Sheriff of Lancashire for 1854 and M.P. for Clitheroe from 1865 to 1868.

Comprising teapot and cover, sugar bowl and cover, milk jug, two teacups and a tray.

The tray has a tiny flake loss to the gilt on the edge at the 2 o'clock position.
The sucrier has a firing blemish to the inside below the rim and a small chip loss to the bud finial
The tea cups have a tiny amount of wear to the gilt rims
The teapot cover has a shallow chip under the rim and a tiny loss to the bud finial, slight wear to the gilding on the handle
The milk jug has a shallow chip to the inside edge of the spout
