Lot 644 , A fine Belle Epoque diamond brooch, circa 1910
A fine Belle Epoque diamond brooch, circa 1910, of square outline and curved profile, the intricate openwork lattice framed with ribbon bows and floral motifs, set throughout with circular-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds totalling approximately 2.90 carats, mounted in millegrain-bordered platinum, measuring 5 x 4.8cm, later brooch fittings
The curved profile of this fine plaque brooch, and the piercing to the galleries on opposing sides, suggests that this was originally the central plaque of a collier de chien, likely intended to be strung with strands of seed pearls.
