A collection of letters and other memorabilia regarding the unveiling of the Oscar Nemon (1906-1985) bronze statue of the seated figure of Sir Winston Churchill on The Green, Westerham by Baroness Spencer-Churchill and Sir Robert Menzies, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, on 23rd July 1969, comprising: correspondence between Major I M Calvocoressi (a trustee of the Winston Churchill Fund Westerham) and Lady Churchill’s private secretary, European ambassadors to The Court of St James’s, Lady Avon (wife of the former Prime Minister, Sir Anthony Eden), Lord Cornwallis (Lord Lieutenant of Kent) and Col. Sir Stuart Mallinson; two US press photographs of the Churchill and Soames families at the ceremony and another photograph of the statue; three Orders of Service for memorial services at Coventry Cathedral, Salisbury Cathedral and Westerham Parish Church; a metal plaque enamelled with Churchill’s coat-of-arms; and two centenary event programmes

This and the majority of Churchill lots in the sale, were originally from the home of Major Ion Calvocoressi, and are now sent for sale by a Brasted resident.
