Condition:
An unusual and rare piece, with attractive panels of boulder opal, but damaged and in need of significant specialist restoration. Cracks to several panels. Hinge to lid intact, possibly previously repaired, but lid closing securely. Base panel intact but base frame detaches. Wear to edges of frame. French petit guarantie rabbit head assay mark, 1819-38, stamped 10, unidentified assay mark, all to the lip of the lid - base unmarked. Other dents and wear to metal work and surface wear to boulder opal.
